Mojo Magazine
Each month, Mojo magazine provides viewers with the 'greatest icons' in exclusive encounters.
Mojo Magazine is a music magazine and began in 1993. The magazine often chooses stylistic colour choices depending on who is starred on the front page, for example Bob Marley was surrounded by 'Rasta' or Jamaican colours. Other's include Led Zeppelin, with a simplistic red title and grey background. The Smiths are paired with shades of blue and white titles. Kings of Leon were matched with white and green titles with a black abckground. I think these stylistic choices are used to represent the band and issue is covering. Sometimes the magazine offers free CD's, for instance the isso of Mojo featuring Bob Dylan after his passing offered a free CD: The Roots of Bob Dylan. The genre that is more prominant in this magazine is alternative. I think the target audience of Mojo Magazine is large but focuses on certain genres of alternative and rock, perhaps even indie pop.
Q Magazine
Q Magazine is the biggest selling magazine in the UK. IT offers an extensive review section that features new releases in music, reissues, compilations, , live concert reviews and more. The magazine focuses on interviews with popular musical artists. Q magazine features familiar colours with most of its issues, even though the artist on the front page can change the colour theme os often red with black or white. Artists features range from Foo Fighters, to adele, or Madonna and Michael Jackson. The Q magazine features many popular artists of Pop Culture. I think the target audience of Q magazine is broad, and focuses on the biggest and most profitable audience of pop culture and the Zeitgeist of the time of publish.
What Magazine would best suit our artist & Audience?
Our music video fits into the indie pop genre and i feel it would better fit a magazine like Mojo Magazine. I feel this because Q magazine focuses on very well known pop culture, where as Mojo focuses on other genres. Mojo magazine also offers free additions on special additions, and i feel this would be succesfull for Sad Robot, Hold On ebcause our Digipak includes a free robot figure which can be constructed from a paper net. Where Q magazine focuses on the wider picture, Mojo Magazine looks in depth at particular artists. Our target audience is a small group in comparison to audiences of pop culture, and i feel a magazine such as Mojo magazine would be better to deliver to our target audience of indie rock.
