KERLI
Kerli has her own specific style that has become recognised by her fan base, some of her costumes can resemble doll clothes or almost alien-like costumes and make-up. In relation her music videos are often themed like a doll house. Some of Kerli’s costumes can look provocative but she is not actively shown as a sex symbol. There is a permanent enigma surrounding Kerli because her videos are usually surreal and focus on visuals that often amplify the music.
Kerli has an official website, its design is very elaborate and features Kerli on the first page. She also has a facebook and twitter account, she keeps her ‘moonbabies’ informed. In her fan base she’s known as a ‘Moon Child’. Her images are always presented as elaborate and surreal.
Kerli's 'Utopia' album cover is quite supernatural and stands out. It shows her star appeal and image as being 'different' and more fitting of her 'moon child' theme. I like the use of colours and the simplicity that attracts the target audience. However, her 'Love Is Dead' cover is very different. I find this relates more to her recent music performance style that depicts Kerli and her surroundings as doll-like and less understandable. Kerli's 'Army of Love' cover art is similar to 'Utopia' but contrasts in colour scheme, giving a more mature approach and more serious. Her costume depicted in each of these covers are all very similar and portray her as very elaborate and with a very obvious star image.
